Everest names Cipolla E&S primary casualty head

Everest Insurance has promoted Michael Cipolla to lead its excess and surplus primary casualty offering as the company looks to continue to build out its presence in the auto and general liability markets.

Everest US Casualty

Cipolla, who first joined Everest Insurance in 2016 having spent the previous four years at Swiss Re, most recently served the company as vice president, E&S casualty. In that role, Cipolla led the expansion of Everest Insurance’s wholesale portfolio in the southeast US region.

In his new role, the Atlanta, Georgia-based Cipolla will be responsible for developing Everest Insurance’s E&S primary casualty product portfolio and leading the continued growth of its primary casualty business in the wholesale space.

Cipollla, who has also worked for CoverX and Lexington during his career, will report into Michael Finnegan, the head of Everest Insurance’s E&S casualty operation.

“Michael’s appointment further demonstrates Everest’s continued investment and commitment to the wholesale market,” Finnegan said. “Everest has successfully operated in the E&S space for over two decades.”

Everest Insurance has seen a few management changes in recent months. Financial lines head Keith Lavigne last month departed for ProSight Specialty Insurance, while in late January Everest Insurance brought in Marcus Cooper as head of distribution for its North America business as well as Finnegan, both of whom joined from Liberty Mutual.
