Posa brings more than 30 years of excess and surplus lines underwriting leadership to Nationwide E&S.

Posa’s career includes a significant focus in both commercial general and excess liability, Nationwide E&S said.

He has joined Nationwide E&S after five years at Axis Capital where he most recently served as senior vice president within the Bermudian (re)insurer’s US primary casualty division. In that role, Posa oversaw senior underwriters and was responsible for profitable growth, expanding distribution, enhancing technology capabilities and developing pricing models.

Before joining Axis, he spent just over two years at Aspen Insurance where he was the senior vice president of the company’s construction vertical for both primary and excess casualty lines. Posa’s career also includes stints at Catlin, St Paul, Hartford Specialty and Lexington Insurance Company.

“We are committed to building our strength in this specialized area with industry recognized talent,” said Tom Jurgens, senior vice president of E&S Brokerage at Nationwide E&S.

“Having John’s expertise will position us to further enhance our wholesale brokerage relationships in construction and help drive Nationwide to be an industry leader in this arena,” Jurgens added.

Elsewhere, Nationwide E&S has brought in Moffatt as leader, E&S Brokerage primary casualty underwriting, with the new hire joining after 15 years at Great American.

She brings more than a decade’s worth of experience in the primary and excess casualty markets to Nationwide E&S.

Moffatt’s most recent role was divisional assistant vice president at Great American Risk Solutions where she oversaw two large national underwriting teams focused on product liability business.

In that role, Moffatt developed annual strategic plans with wholesale partners to encourage engagement and gather market intelligence. She also had responsibility for marketing company products and services to wholesale brokers.

“Ashley’s expertise and leadership will help E&S Brokerage continue to enhance its general liability, product manufacturing, and premises, hospitality and services classes of business,” said Jurgens.

“As we continue to expand our expertise in complex and hard-to-place commercial risks with underwriting solutions not readily available in the standard market, Ashley will be a key player in helping us maintain our reputation for talented underwriters,” he added.
